Not that Fulton County Board secretary Renea Stuckey doesn’t deserve a vacation.
She always did. But she’s been doubling down even more since former county administrator Mike Hayes left in one of several efforts to cut expenses. Still, I would have liked to hear the debate on repairs to the ailing county courthouse. Missed it, since I didn’t find out about the special meeting until it was over. With Renea on vacation, I didn’t get notified.
Board chairman Bob Bucher called to apologize Friday and filled in some of the details. The board voted 9-8 to demolish the dome and tower because the bottom line is the bottom line.
“To fix it properly is $1.35 million,” Bucher said. “We do not have that kind of money.”
Nope, they don’t. Budget cuts have all kinds of consequences.
