The first Lloyd Loar’s Hometown Bluegrass Festival apparently did fine.
“We had remarkable volunteers. We had wonderful music. Good number of attendees,” organizer Bonnie Jaeckle said via email. “Great response to our desire to focus on helping the youth in Bluegrass, including musicians volunteering to do workshops and offering physical labor for future festivals, etc.!”
Loar was a master luthier and bluegrass musician in the first half of the 2oth Century. Since he spent a good chunk of his early life in Lewistown, Jaeckle and some friends thought he’d be the logical focus for a bluegrass fest. The initial test was June 28-30, and it looks like they passed.
“Lots of positive feedback,” Jaeckle said. “thanks to all who participated, we were all blessed!”
